Discovery Cube and Create Now Career Day

The Discovery Cube Los Angeles hosted a free family day for all Board District 6 families in partnership with the LA Unified Board President Kelly Gonez.

The museum opened its doors at 10:00 AM, and welcomed over 1,300 parents and students from Board District 6. Registered families were able to enter free of charge until 1:00 PM. Admission included access to the museum’s exhibits, as well as several workshops, including a STEAM Career Day workshop in partnership with Create Now, designed to introduce teens to potential career paths in fields related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM).

The workshop included panels and Q&As with guest speaker Jeff Rich from Carnegie Observatories. Students and families also attended the “Better Money Habits” workshop, hosted in partnership with Bank of America, and several “Home Composting” workshops hosted throughout the day by LA Sanitation.
